The Look
Painter, musician and Charlotte interior designer Scott Weaver designed our original historic Plaza Midwood spot with the notion that this intimate space should feel like the urban loft of a well traveled libertine - sexy, vintage, old world charm mixed with found objects and art. He succeeded and the Soul vibe became unmistakable. That’s why we dubbed him our Vibe Curator.
When we found our new home, more than double the space of that cozy loft, Scott was faced with a challenge - how to recreate the vibe with high ceilings and a much bigger open floor plan? He got to work reincorporating the obvious elements that our fans expect - the banquettes, the lounge area and the booths. Featuring rich wood detailing and touches of our signature peacock colors throughout the dining room, he blended all the familiar icons that signal you’re at Soul.
Of course, the legendary peacock takes center stage. You'll find our lounge area familiar but refreshed and our signature Duy Huynh paintings nearby. The haunted mirror from our now closed pocket liquor lounge, Tattoo, returns (IYKYK) along with a mirror designed by our good friend and musician Hope Nicholls of Fetchin’ Bones and Boris + Natasha fame. The panels in the hall to the bathrooms feature framed pieces of our original wallpaper (sadly discontinued) - an unexpected remembrance of things past.
We know, you know, we can never fully return to what was. But when you walk through the door, we hope you’ll feel something familiar, like a hug from an old friend.
